Matagal na nung huling nagsulat ako sa filipino, at dahil sa huling hurit ko na ito, siyempre gusto ko espesyal kaya ang sariling wika natin ang gagamitin ko. Kaya relaks ka lang diyan at hayaan mo akong magsalita...

Napakabilis. Sobrang bilis talaga. Parang kailan lang noong tumayo ako sa harapan,nagpakilala, nagsabi-sabi ng mga kung ano-anong bagay tapos ngayon ito ako, nagpapaalam na. O huwag kang mag-alala, hindi naman magiging sobrang madamdamin to.

Ano ba ang napala ko sa pagiging presidente ng SAMASKOM? Gusto mo bang malaman ang totoo? Nang dahil sa SAMASKOM, labas pasok ako sa opisina ni Ma’am Virgie. Nang dahil sa SAMASKOM, para akong bata na takbo ng takbo para makapagpapirma ng mga papeles at kung anu-ano pa sa OSAFA. Nang dahil sa SAMASKOM, pahirapan ang pagpapapirma ko ng aking clearance. Nang dahil sa SAMASKOM, sumakit ang ulo ko at bonggang bonggang stress ang napala ko. Pero higit sa lahat, nang dahil sa SAMASKOM, sumaya at nagkasaysay ang buhay ko bilang estudyante. Oo,seryoso ako at walang halong kaplastikan o kung anu man ito.

Gusto mo bang malaman kung bakit? Masaya kasi sa dinami-dami ng tao, ako ang maswerteng nanalo at pinaniwalaan ng tao. Masaya kasi nagkaroon ako ng mga maraming oportunidad na makilahok sa iba't-ibang seminars at conference. Masaya kasi andaming bagay ang aking mga nadiskubre tungkol sa aking sarili sa tulong ng SAMASKOM. Nagkaroon ng saysay ang buhay ko bilang isang estudyante dahil nabigyan ako ng pagkakataon maglingkod sa iba. Hindi lang ako nagpasarap sa buhay kundi naglaan ako ng oras para magbigay serbisyo sa iba.

Hindi naging madali ang aking termino. Iba't-ibang pangyayari ang naganap na sa awa ng Diyos e aking nalampasan. Nalampasan ko ang mga unos sa tulong ng mga tao na umalalay at nagbigay suporta sa akin. Hindi ko na paguukulan pa ng pansin ang mga di kanais-nais na bagay sa halip ay gagamitin ko ang pagkakataon na ito para magpasalamat.

Una sa lahat, sa Poong Maykapal na nagbigay sa akin ng lakas at determinasyon. Alay ko sa kanya lahat ng aking ginagawa at mga bagay na aking nakamit.

Kay Paul Henson,ang katuwang ko sa bawat hakbang ng aking termino, sa tulong niya ay napadali ang aking trabaho at mas naging magaan ang mga bagay-bagay. Salamat sa pagtupad ng iyong tungkulin. Sa suportang iyong ibinigay. At higit sa lahat, sa pagmamahal at dedikasyon mo sa ating organisasyon.

Sa ABMC3 na walang sawa ang pagtulong sa mga aktibidades. Sa walang sawang pagbibigay ng oras at donasyon.

Sa aking mga kapwa masscom,salamat sa tiwala at tulong na inyong ipinagkaluob.

At syempre, kay Maam Virgie na walang kapantay. Sa walang humpay niyang suporta at paggabay. Kung hindi dahil sa kanya,walang SAMASKOM.

Sa mga papalit sa aming mga posisyon, sa pangunguna ni Pau, hangad ko ang inyong tagumpay. Asahan ninyong andito parin ako,handang tumulong.

Mukhang napapahaba na ito at kailangan ng putulin. Marami pa akong nais pasalamatan pero sabi nga nila,ang mga taong dapat pinasasalamatan ay di kinakailangan sabihan sapagkat ramdam na ito ng kanilang mga puso.

Sa dinami-dami at hinaba-haba ng aking nasabi,marami pa ring kulang pero hahayaan ko na itong ganito. May mga pagkakataon na sa sobrang ganda o madamdamin ng iyong bibigkasin e mas mainam ng huwag mo na itong sambitin at hayaan mong ang puso mo ang magsabi.

At sa oras na ito ay iyon na lang ang aking gagawin. MARAMING MARAMING SALAMAT PO SA ISANG MASAYA AT MAKABULUHANG SAMASKOM08-09.

ABMC alumni are coming to AUF this Saturday, March 21, to be our guests in SAMASKOlloquiuM. This event aims to bring together some ABMC alumni from different batches who will share their experiences about their current and previous jobs.

This is titled A PEEK INTO THE FUTURE because the participants would be able to find out what kinds of jobs are waiting for ABMC graduates. We're having guests from batch 1993, 1999, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008.

This is a production of ABMC 3 students as partial fulfillment to E-Newsroom 2 class.

All ABMC and AB Comm. students are WELCOME to PEEK INTO THE FUTURE.

INTERNSHIP FORUM

Activity: INTERNSHIP FORUM

SAMASKOM holds INTERNSHIP FORUM among selected senior ABMC students and the junior ABMC students. This forum aimed to assist the incoming ABMC 4 students in their internship-related plans.

In the forum, five groups/individuals shared their experiences on their internship last summer.


Mitch, Ishna and Gladys talked about the adventure and challenge of being interns in FILMLESS FILMS. They were part of the production crew of an independent film. As interns, they had a chance to experience real-life production in Ilocos. Unlike other interns, they did not spend their time in offices or in production studios, or editing room. Instead, they were assigned to be on the field where they had to literally endure the heat of the sun.



Edwin Ryan de Leon, on the other hand, talked about how challenging internship can be if you're part of a big company. He had his internship at the Ayala Corporation. He got this chance when he was selected as among the country's representatives on the Ayala Young Leaders Congress. Edwin also got an opportunity to travel throughout his internship program. He had gone to places like Bohol and Leyte while he was completing the required units for the course.




Timothy Joseph Mallari discussed significant matters which the intern-applicants should consider when planning to apply at advertising agencies or production houses. Based on his own experiences, Tim, among all other suggestions, advised the junior ABMC students that they should "never assume." He said that if they don't know the answer to the question of the staff/bosses in the company, then they should admit it and not assume that they know although they actually don't.

Gypsy Salazar, Karen Gail Cunanan, April Joy Boado and Patricia Kaye Bodino were also ready with their presentation. They shared what they learned from NBN where they had their internship. Aside from the warning they gave regarding the "sinful couch," they also gave a lot of tips on how to succeed, and not merely survive, in their internship.

Al Christopher Mendoza, towards the end of the forum, reminded the ABMC 3 students that internship is not just about penetrating broadcast network but also about becoming independent interns in some publishing companies. Al invited the third year to consider applying at Business Week where they could learn to produce stories without actual supervision from the intern supervisor. Al mentioned that he basically completed 100 hours though he only saw the supervisor for perhaps 3 hours.

This is the first time that such a forum among the junior and senior students is held. I hope that the event helped answer some of the questions that ABMC 3 students have regarding what they will be embarking on this summer.

SAMASKOM and other orgs @ Bahay Pag-ibig

On December 17, SAMASKOM, together with the English Club, the faculty from the Dept. of English & Comm., and the faculty from the Dept. of Math & Physics, went to Bahay Pag-ibig for a short community extension program.

Bahay Pag-Ibig houses 70 old people (50 female and 20 male) who no longer have relatives who can take care of them. They were already in the hall when we arrived. After giving all our donations (powdered milk and choco, canned goods, etc.) to the Director's office, we started with the program.










Leonard Grape served as the emcee for the program. Hazzel Dumandan rendered a few songs for them. And with Leo's cue, all the students who were with us entertained the "lolo" and "lola" with songs.





Aside from the donations we left at the office, we also wrapped gifts for each of them. Thanks to all the SAMASKOM members and CAS Ideas staff who donated powder, towel, comb, and soap. We wrapped them and gave them as individual gifts.

The officers and members of the English Club also prepared food for the event -- we served pansit and juice during the program. All of us, students, teachers, and even our dean and assistant dean served them with the food.




Thanks to all the following SAMASKOM members and officers who were with us: Pam, Paul, Leo, Fateem, Andrei, Cris, Kring, Elaine, and Robert. (Did I miss anyone?)

SAMASKOM: In-charge of donations, individual gifts for 70 residents of Bahay Pag-Ibig, program and intermission number
ENGLISH CLUB: In-charge of gifts, food, medicines to be donated, etc.



SAMASKOM, together with the ENGLISH CLUB, is organizing a community outreach program at Bahay Pag-Ibig on December 17 at 9:30 a.m.

SAMASKOM is in-charge of the donations like powdered milk, powdered choco, canned goods, soap, towel, powder, and comb.

The ENGLISH CLUB is donating cash worth P5,000.00 to cover expenses for a gift (microphone -- as requested by the Bahay Pag-Ibig staff), food, medicines, and other items like gift wrappers, etc.

Also part of the organizing committee is the faculty from the Department of English and Communication -- both the advisers of English Club and SAMASKOM belong to the said department. The English faculty is donating some items as well.

The staff of the CAS Ideas also collected some donations like towel and powder from the CAS students. Their donations were included in the individual gifts.

TO ALL THOSE WHO DONATED SOME ITEMS: THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

1. Broadcast Journalism Seminar (sponsored and organized by the International Center for Communication Studies) to be held at the University of the Assumption on November 22 (Saturday). Speakers include Susan Enriquez, Mark Salazar, Nadia Trinidad and other broadcasters from ABS-CBN and GMA. Registration fee is P1,000.00 only.

2. Hong Kong Journalism tour (also sponsored and organized by the International Center for Communication Studies)to be conducted from January 21 to 24. Itinerary includes the Journalism and Media Studies Center, University of Hong Kong, Bloomberg Television, TIME Magazine, Hong Kong Press Council, Wall Street Journal, Far Eastern Economic Review, plus a Disneyland tour. Tentative registration fee is between $700 and $750.
